Memorial Day: For the People Who Aren't at the Cookout

Memorial Day weekend is coming. Patios get used. Grills come out. The neighborhood gets a little louder for a few days and then settles back into June.
We sell fire features. So technically this is the kind of weekend we're supposed to write a sale post about. We're not going to.
The thing about Memorial Day that gets quietly folded away under the cookouts is that it's a holiday about specific people. People who didn't come back. People who are not at the table this weekend, and weren't last year, and won't be next year. Families who set one less plate. Friends who keep telling the same story so they don't forget the voice.
That's the actual occasion.
If you have someone you're thinking about this weekend, we hope your backyard is a good place to do that thinking. Whether you have one of our fire tables or not. The purpose of an outdoor space is mostly to give people somewhere to gather, and gathering includes the people we wish were still there.
So no sale. No countdown timer. No "shop the Memorial Day collection." Just a small note from us.
If you're with people you love this weekend, hold them a beat longer. If you're not, we hope the quiet is gentle.
And if you happen to light a fire this weekend, light one for somebody who can't.
